The court found the former deputy head of a village military administration in Kherson region guilty of misappropriating humanitarian aid under martial law. He will serve his sentence on probation as he voluntarily compensated for the damage and transferred funds to the needs of the Armed Forces.

This was reported by the press service of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.

According to the Beryslav District Prosecutor's Office, in 2023, the official illegally seized power tools were transferred for the needs of the administration under martial law. The total value of the misappropriated property reached almost 64 thousand hryvnias.

At the same time, according to his official duties, he was responsible for organizing the work of humanitarian aid distribution points and its proper storage. For his actions, he faced 5 to 8 years in prison with disqualification to hold certain positions for up to three years.

The former official pleaded guilty, entered into a plea agreement with the investigation and was fully compensated for the losses. In addition, he voluntarily transferred 20 thousand hryvnias for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to media reports, this is the former deputy head of the Borozenskyi SIA, Volodymyr Vasyuta.

The court sentenced him to five years in prison with disqualification to hold state and local positions, but, taking into account the voluntary reimbursement, applied Article 75 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This means that the verdict is a guilty verdict, but the convicted person will serve his sentence on probation, without going to prison.

After the verdict enters into force, the convict's information will be entered into the Unified State Register of Persons Who Committed Corruption Offenses.

The State Bureau of Investigation also completed the pre-trial investigation and submitted to the court indictments against the deputy head of the Kherson housing and maintenance department and his subordinate, who organized a corruption scheme during the purchase of fuel for the military. The officials face up to six years in prison for this crime.
