In the first half of 2026, Ukraine recorded more than 4 million tourist overnight stays subject to the tourist tax. The Odesa region ranked seventh among the regions in terms of the number of overnight stays, while the Mykolaiv region ranked 19th.

According to the press service of the State Agency for Tourism Development of Ukraine, the number of overnight stays subject to the tourist tax in the first half of the year increased by 12.7% compared to the same period in 2025. Local budgets received 186.6 million hryvnias from these stays.

Traditionally, the highest number of such overnight stays was recorded in Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kyiv, Zakarpattia, and Kyiv regions—together, these five regions accounted for 71% of the national total.

Odesa Oblast ranked seventh: over six months, 214,258 tourist overnight stays were recorded there, which is 25.1% more than a year earlier. Moreover, the growth was even more pronounced in the second quarter—28%—with the number of overnight stays reaching 155,782.

Odessa itself ranked among the top five municipalities in Ukraine in terms of the number of tourist overnight stays in the second quarter. The city recorded 104,510 overnight stays, which is 19.5% more than in April–June 2025.

Mykolaiv Oblast ranked 19th based on the results of the first half of the year. The region recorded 29,808 overnight stays, which is 10.2% more than during the same period in 2025. In the second quarter, the figure stood at 17,796 overnight stays, with a 10.6% increase.

At the same time, Mykolaiv has become one of the prominent centers for international tourism. In the second quarter, the city recorded 4,524 overnight stays by foreign visitors who paid the tourist tax—a 367.4% increase compared to the previous year. Based on this metric, Mykolaiv ranked fourth among Ukrainian municipalities.

The Kherson region is not listed separately in this ranking, nor is Kherson among the top 20 municipalities by number of overnight stays in the second quarter.

In total, 8,490 establishments subject to the tourist tax—temporary lodging facilities that reported the tax—were operating in Ukraine during the second quarter. A year ago, there were 7,898 such establishments.

The Polianytsia community, Shatsk, Lviv, Odesa, and Yaremche saw the largest increases in the number of new facilities during the quarter. In Odesa, the number of such facilities increased by 30 compared to the second quarter of 2025.

From January through July 2026, the budgets of communities in the Odesa region received 8.6 million hryvnias in tourist tax revenue. This is 19%, or 1.4 million hryvnias, more than during the same period last year.
