Odesa woman sentenced to five years for publishing checkpoint locations

The Prymorskyi District Court of Odesa found the Odesa resident guilty of obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations and sentenced her to five years in prison.

However, according to the court' s verdict, her actual prison term was replaced by 1.5 years of probation.

She was assigned the following duties:

From February 13, 2024, to October 26, 2024, thewoman used her mobile phone to distribute text messages in the Telegram channel, which has 28,257 subscribers, containing information about the dates and places of the military personnel of the district territorial centers of recruitment and social support of the events to notify human mobilization resources, which she learned under circumstances not established by the pre-trial investigation, as follows.

In total, the woman published about 20 such messages. According to the dates and places indicated in her messages, the military of the TCC and the JV, together with the military of the National Guard of Ukraine and the staff of the Patrol Police Department in Odesa region, actually carried out measures to alert human mobilization resources.

At the court hearing, the accused pleaded guilty to the criminal offense stipulated by Part 1 of Article 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, sincerely repented.

The mobile phone she used to post the posts was confiscated in favor of the state.
