A court in Odesa commuted a suspended sentence to 5 years in prison for a local resident. The man published information about mobilization points and defense facilities in the city on social media.

This was reported by the press service of the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office.

Law enforcement officers have secured a stricter sentence for the Odesa resident who disseminated prohibited information about the Armed Forces. The regional prosecutor's office appealed the verdict of the court of first instance against the 37-year-old resident of Odesa.

Earlier, he was sentenced to 5 years in prison with a probationary period of 2 years for obstructing the legitimate activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during a special period.

According to the case file, in early 2024, the man repeatedly published photos and lists with the exact dates and locations of territorial recruitment centers and mobilization points in an open telegram channel. Among the disseminated data was information about one of the checkpoints, which is part of the Odesa defense system.

In the Court of Appeal, prosecutors proved that the previously imposed sentence did not correspond to the gravity of the crime and the real risks posed by the man's actions. The court agreed with the prosecutor's arguments and passed a new sentence: instead of a suspended sentence, the Odesa resident received a real sentence of 5 years in prison.

In October, a court in Odesa region found an SBU officer guilty of illegally disseminating data on the location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The man sent a Telegram user images of the area from Google Maps with the exact coordinates of the military unit.

In January 2025, the gunner was detained, initially classifying his actions as high treason, which provides for up to 15 years in prison or life imprisonment. At first, the man denied his guilt, but later admitted it in full. The court took into account his sincere remorse and active assistance to the investigation and sentenced him to two years in prison.
