Odesa Region Plans ₴72.7M Radiation Shelter at Lyceum No. 1 with

A new radiation protection shelter is planned to be built on the territory of Lyceum No. 1 in the Rozdilnyansky district of Odesa region. The search for a contractor has already begun.

According to the Center for Public Investigations, the project cost is more than UAH 72.7 million, of which UAH 69 million is allocated from the state budget. The project is also co-financed by the European Union under the Ukraine Facility initiative.

The construction client is the Centralized Procurement Organization of Odesa Regional Council. The tender for the contractor was announced on April 29. The deadline for submitting applications is May 15, and the next day an auction is scheduled to be held in an open bidding format with special features that provide for shorter deadlines for submitting applications and appeals. The works are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2025.

According to the project, the contractor will have to dig a pit and arrange the foundation. The shelter will have strong reinforced concrete structures, water and heat insulation, modern ventilation, a diesel generator, water supply and sewerage systems.

The premises will have equipped areas for students and teachers: more than a hundred desks and chairs, bunk beds, children's play sets, furniture, swings, household appliances, as well as recreation and dining areas will be installed.

The shelter will also be accessible to people with disabilities. The bomb shelter will be equipped with fire alarms, gas detectors, medical equipment, protective equipment, and more.

The tender documentation states that it will be one of the most modern protective shelters in the region, capable of ensuring the safety of schoolchildren and staff during air raids or man-made threats.

Earlier, Intent reported that almost UAH 100 million was allocated for the construction of a radiation shelter for a lyceum in Kryzhanivka. A similar protective structure is planned to be built in Chornomorsk.

The Usativvillagecouncil of Odesa district announced a search for a contractor to select a company to pay for the construction of a protective structure - a radiation shelter - in the village of Illinka, but the tender was later canceled.
