Almost half a million cars were imported from abroad to Ukraine in 2025: 23,382 cars were imported to Odesa region.

According to analysts of the Opendatabot platform, Odesa region was ahead of Mykolaiv and Kherson regions and ranked sixth in Ukraine.

Last year, 6,393 cars were imported to Mykolaiv region, and 643 were registered in Kherson region. Almost every fifth imported vehicle was registered in the capital: 80 thousand 425 cars. Lviv region holds the second place with 51 thousand 730 cars. The top five also includes Kyiv (28,179), Dnipro (26,311), and Rivne (23,608) regions.

Ukraine remains a market for used cars: more than 70% of imports last year were used cars. The average age of imported cars did not change over the year: 9 years. For comparison, in 2021, the average age of newly imported cars was 11 years.

Volkswagen was the most popular car brand, while Tesla Model Y was the most popular imported car of the year.

However, it is worth noting that Volkswagen is the leader in 20 regions. The only exceptions were Odesa region, where BMW took the lead, Renault in Chernihiv and Donetsk, and the motorcycle brand Spark in Kherson region.

If we look exclusively at electric vehicles, the picture is even clearer: Tesla became the No. 1 brand in 22 regions of the country, losing only to Volkswagen in Zakarpattia region and to Chinese BYD in Sumy region.

On the eve of the return of taxes on the import of electric cars, such cars were in great demand - every fourth car that crossed the border last year. Electric trains even outsold diesel cars in popularity: 109 thousand 309 electric cars versus 94 thousand 14 diesel cars. However, gasoline cars are still in the lead: 195 thousand 59 vehicles. It is worth noting that out of 504 luxury cars that were subject to the luxury tax, half were also electric.
