Odesa region is among the leaders in Ukraine in terms of the number of images of Pushkin

Activists of the organization Decolonization. Ukraine" organization counted the number of monuments and memorial plaques dedicated to the Russian poet Alexander Pushkin.

In particular, they counted four such objects in Odesa.

Six objects in Kyiv - Konstantynivska Street, a bust on the facade of a building, 60 Janusz Korczak Street, a bas-relief with his image, and the University Metro Station - the image is covered, not dismantled.

There are also images of the poet in Kamianka, Cherkasy region, and in Tatarbunary. Other settlements with images of Alexander Pushkin are located on the occupied territories in:

Earlier, specialists of the municipal enterprise "Miskvodokanal" dismantled the monument to Pushkin in the city park of Bolhrad. Prior to that, the Bolhrad City Council received a decision from the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications, according to which the monument was not included in the list of those listed in the State Register of Immovable Monuments of Ukraine. The monument was to be dismantled within 15 days.

In late July, unknown persons destroyed a plaque dedicated to the brother of Russian poet Alexander Pushkin, Lev.

In Odesa, UNESCO was involved to determine whether the monument to Pushkin on Dumska Square could be dismantled. In its response, UNESCO confirms that, in accordance with international regulations, the organization is "committed to promoting dialogue and participation of all stakeholders as an essential means of decision-making in the field of culture" and promises to enter into a dialogue with the relevant authorities in Ukraine on this issue.

Meanwhile, 115 representatives of culture, art and science in Odesa asked to postpone the decision on the demolition of Odesa's monuments until the end of the full-scale war. Some citizens even organized a rally on Shevchenko Avenue.
