Odesa Railways Unveils Upgraded Locomotives After Major Overhaul

A presentation of the repaired locomotives of Odesa Railways took place at Taras Shevchenko station. The restored electric and diesel locomotives have improved performance and a modernized driver's cab.

This was reported by the regional branch of JSC UZ Odesa Railways.

The locomotive depots Podilsk and Znamenka presented electric locomotives VL80s and VL80t, Khrystynivka depot presented a diesel locomotive ChME3, and Taras Shevchenko depot presented a section of diesel locomotives 2TE10m. They were overhauled as part of the PR-3 program to restore their technical characteristics. The Pomoshna locomotive depot also presented a ChME3 locomotive after maintenance 3 with additional improvements.

The repaired locomotives have received significant upgrades. Electrical machines and devices were restored, electrical wiring was partially replaced, and electrical and pneumatic circuits were updated.

The working conditions of the locomotive crews were also improved: control cabs were modernized, new seats, light protection curtains, cooling systems were installed, wall, ceiling and floor cladding was replaced, LED lighting and cooler bags were added.

In addition, the bodies and crew parts were painted in accordance with the new guidelines of Ukrzaliznytsia.

The branch noted that the depot's labor collectives received awards for the quality of their work. Podilsk, Pomoshna, and Khrystynivka depots took first place, and Znamenka and Shevchenko depots took second place.

Earlier, Serhiy Nikulin, who had been heading the company since 2018, was dismissed as director of the Odesa Railways regional branch of PJSC Ukrzaliznytsia. Roman Myakishev was appointed acting director of Odesa Railways.

Before that, the Odesa Railways regional branch of Ukrzaliznytsia announced a tender for the overhaul of a metal bridge and restoration of structures after its destruction in Mykolaiv region. This was reported in the Prozorro electronic procurement system. The procurement was planned in the format of an open tender with special features. The tender value is UAH 311 million 333.1 thousand.
