This was reported by the press service of the National Police in Odesa region.

Around 18:00, the police received a report from eyewitnesses about shots fired and the discovery of a man with gunshot wounds on Fontanska Road. Law enforcement officials noted that the victim died at the scene.

An investigative team from the local police department was working at the scene. Law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the incident and are currently looking for the person involved in the crime. The issue of registering the information in the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations is also being resolved.

According to the press service, according to preliminary data, the deceased was a 45-year-old resident of Odesa. Law enforcement officers opened criminal proceedings over the incident under Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - premeditated murder. Police continue to work at the scene and are taking measures to detain the suspect.

In March, at about 10:30 a.m. in the center of Odesa, an unknown person shot several times at Demian Hanul, who died on the spot from his wounds. The murder suspect was detained the same day, and the weapon allegedly used in the crime was found in his apartment. The man was notified of suspicion under paragraph 11 of part 2 of Article 115 and part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - premeditated contract murder and illegal possession of weapons.

In May, the Prymorskyi District Court of Odesa began hearing the case of Mykola Mayorenko, who is accused of attempting to kill two civil society activists, businessman Gennadiy Beibutyan and Demyan Hanul.

At the same time, in November, 46-year-old Serhiy Shalaev, accused of killing Hanul, addressed the relatives of the deceased during a court hearing on November 3, apologized and stated that he had been misled about the activist's identity.
