Members of the Social Policy and Labor Commission agreed on the design of a new playground to be installed on the site of the one that was dismantled on April 4.

According to Leonid Hrebenyuk, Director of the Department of Municipal Economy, it is proposed to install an inclusive playground on the site of the previous playground.

Like the previous one, it will have drawing boards, special swings for children in wheelchairs, a sandbox table, and swings for children under three years old. There are four types of pavement: gravel, paving slabs, rubber tiles, and a green area. Paving slabs over an area of more than 150 square meters are needed for easy access for wheelchairs. The rubber coating will cover 70 square meters. The rest of the area will be covered with gravel and greenery. The total area of the site is more than 1 thousand square meters.

According to the official, the design of the site was carried out in accordance with state standards. The standards do not prohibit the use of gravel, while rubber plates increase the cost of construction. That is why they planned to use gravel extensively. In addition, according to Leonid Hrebenyuk, gravel can serve as a motor development tool for children.

For the construction of this playground, it is planned to amend the program "Barrier-Free Odesa" for 2023-2025 by allocating UAH 4.4 million.

On April 4, an inclusive playground on Soborna Square was dismantled in Odesa. The structures were in disrepair and dangerous for children. At the time, the mayor's office did not provide details on what the new inclusive playground would look like.
