The director of the Odesa Regional Hospital has ordered an internal investigation into the work of the Odesa Regional Perinatal Center over an incident involving a woman who was kicked out of the hospital because she did not have enough money.

This was reported by Rodion Gonta, deputy medical director for obstetric and gynecological care at the Odesa Regional Clinical Hospital.

According to him, the inspection began last week. The work of the entire perinatal service is being checked, starting with the family planning center. The doctors involved in the incident have been suspended from work, and the commission is checking all medical histories and reviewing clinical protocols.

Earlier, a video was posted online showing doctors telling a pregnant woman to pack her things and leave the hospital.

"We are adults here - doctors, we tell you what to do to deliver the baby. We are not paid to buy you medicine. We didn't know you were in labor, but you were, and somehow these issues can be resolved," the doctor says in the video.

Rodion Gonta, in turn, assured that all services provided by the agreement with the National Health Service are provided free of charge at the hospital, and the injured woman in the video is currently in the hospital and is expecting a baby.

In April 2024, Andriy Perevezentsev, who previously worked in Kyiv, became the new acting director of the Odesa Regional Clinical Hospital.

Andrii Perevezentsev is a surgeon by profession. He graduated from the Bogomolets National Medical University in Kyiv. Since 2012, he has been working as an emergency surgeon. In 2012-2021, he was the Head of the Department of Transfusion and Cell Therapy at the Brovary Multidisciplinary Clinical Hospital of the Brovary City Council. Since 2022, he has held the position of Director of the Kyiv City Children's Clinical Hospital No. 2.
