Odesa National University Ranks 4th Among Ukraine's Top 5 Scientific Universities

The I. I. Mechnikov Odesa National University has been ranked among the five best scientific universities in Ukraine according to the international Scopus database.

According to the ONU press service, this is the first time the university has been included in this ranking and has taken an honorable fourth place among all higher education institutions in the country.

The ranking results are based on the citation rates of scientific articles published by educational institutions or their specialists.

The database constantly indexes more than 25 thousand periodicals and non-periodical scientific publications in technical, medical and humanitarian sciences. It includes publications of scientific journals, conference proceedings, book publications, etc.

The first place in the ranking according to the Scopus database was taken by Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. The third place went to Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute" was ranked fifth.

It should be added that the main session of the NMT-2025 will begin on May 14 and last until June 25, and the additional session will be held from July 14 to 25. In 2025, applicants can submit: up to 5 applications for the budget (state order), up to 15 applications in total. Personal electronic accounts of applicants will be open from June 25 to October 20, 2025.

Earlier, the World Universities Web Ranking named the most popular Ukrainian universities on the Internet. Odesa National University named after I.I. Mechnikov was included in the list.

It was ranked first among the higher education institutions of Odesa and 24th in the national standings, which consisted of 192 higher education institutions of Ukraine.

Meanwhile, journalists of the website "Vstup.OSVITA.UA" compiled a rating of private higher education institutions by the number of people enrolled in education at the expense of individuals and legal entities (contract), which was headed by Odesa International Humanitarian University.
