Odesa is among the three leaders in terms of divorce rates

Odesa ranked third in the number of divorces. This means that 8% of marriages broke up.

This became known from the analytics of the Opendatabot service.

According to the court decision search engine Babusya, at least 38,671 marriages were dissolved in Ukraine in the first half of 2025. Another 12,691 couples divorced through registry offices. According to the study, 45% of all divorces in courts are concentrated in five regions: Dnipropetrovs'k, Odesa, Kharkiv, Kyiv regions and Kyiv.

The absolute leader in the number of divorces in courts was Dnipropetrovska oblast, where 5,188 couples divorced, which is 13% of the national figure. In the west of the country, the number of divorces is traditionally lower. The lowest rates were recorded in Zakarpattia (777 divorces) and Volyn (829) regions.

<b>Kyiv</b> is the leader in the ranking of divorces through registry offices (1,780), followed by <b>Dnipropetrovska oblast</b> (1,252) and <b>Kharkivska oblast</b> (889). The lowest number of divorces at registry offices, excluding the frontline and partially occupied regions, was recorded in <b>Zakarpattia</b> (171), <b>Chernivtsi</b> (239), and <b>Ternopil</b> (247) regions.

Last year, Kherson region recorded the lowest number of marriages and divorces in Ukraine. It is noted that in the first year of the full-scale invasion, Ukrainians were actively getting married - 4% more than in 2021, when 214,013 couples got married. However, in 2023, the number of marriages dropped sharply - by as much as 16% over the year. The highest number of marriages was registered in Kyiv - 21,802 new families.

In the south of Ukraine, the largest number of marriages was registered in Odesa region - 13740 marriages. By the way, this is the third "result" in the country. In Mykolaiv region, 6311 marriages were registered. After a decline in the first year of the full-scale war, the number of divorces through the registry office increased again by 35%. 24108 divorces were recorded last year. However, this is still 18.5% less than in 2021.
