Odesa has updated the city program "Development of Physical Culture and Sports for 2024-2028". The proposals were submitted to the Odesa City Military Administration for consideration.

The decision was made at a meeting of the executive committee of the Odesa City Council.

It concerns amendments to the program approved by the decision of the Odesa City Council of November 29, 2023, No. 1628-VIII. In particular, it is proposed to set out in a new version the program passport, as well as a section on the justification of ways and means of solving problems, amounts and sources of funding, and deadlines. At the same time, it is planned to remove the reference to the stages of implementation from the title of the section.

The update will also affect the appendices to the program. The new version proposes to approve the program's resource support, as well as a list of activities and measures envisaged for the period of its implementation.

The program implementation period remains unchanged - from 2024 to 2028. The total estimated amount of funding is UAH 209.3 million. Of this amount, UAH 139.3 million is planned to be allocated from the budget of the Odesa City Territorial Community, and another UAH 70 million is to be raised from other sources.

The main areas of the program include creating conditions for physical activity of various groups of the population, popularizing a healthy lifestyle, supporting a network of sports facilities and developing their material and technical base. Separate provisions are made for the development of the Olympic, non-Olympic, Paralympic and Deaflympic movements, as well as financial support for sports federations and public sports organizations.

One of the program's key focuses is the renewal of sports infrastructure. This includes major repairs of subordinate facilities, including sports school No. 5 and a large gymnasium, as well as the implementation of projects to build a swimming pool and a sports palace. The planned initiatives are to be included in the DREAM public investment system, which will open up opportunities for attracting public funding and investor funds.
