Odesa football players took silver at the Ukrainian Championship

The SeaSters<b> </b>women's soccer team from Odesa took second place in the Ukrainian Women's Championship.

On May 18, the Odesa players played Vorskla Poltava and won 3-0. Before that, the teams had the same number of victories in the championship. Metalist 1925 Zh from Kharkiv is in first place.

The SeaStersclub was officially presented in the summer of 2023. Yevhen Dodurych, a former coach of such teams as FC Chornomorets and FC Palmyra, was appointed head coach.

The captain of the newly created team was the striker of the Ukrainian national team, Olga Boychenko, who is a multiple champion of Ukraine, a participant in the European Championship and the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals.

On August 26, 2023, SeaSters played their first ever official match, where they hosted Kolos, a representative of the Major League, at the stage of the one-eighth final of the Ukrainian Cup. The game ended with a score of 0:2 in favor of the more experienced team from Kovalivka.

In the debut season of 2023-2024, SeaSters played in the First League of the Ukrainian Women's Championship. In total, SeaSters players scored 130 goals against their opponents during the season, 39 of which were scored by Olga Boychenko, who became the tournament's top scorer. The Odesa team confidently won the championship and qualified for the Major League.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina, a native of Odesa, became the champion of the prestigious WTA 1000 grass court tournament in Rome, thus winning the 20th trophy in her career and the second in 2026. In the final, the Ukrainian defeated world number four Coco Goff from the United States in three sets.
