Odesa detains man who promised to employ in SBU for $9,000

Police investigators have detained a 48-year-old resident of Mykolaiv who guaranteed to influence officials of the Security Service of Ukraine to hire a client in exchange for $9,000.

This was reported by the National Police.

Law enforcement officers found that a 48-year-old resident of Mykolaiv had found a young man from Odesa among his friends who was trying to avoid military service and offered him his help.

According to the investigation, the Mykolaiv resident promised to employ the client in the SBU, assuring that it was a good way to avoid mobilization. The dealer claimed that he had connections with officials of the Security Service of Ukraine, whom he could influence to resolve the employment issue in a positive way.

He estimated the cost of his services at $9,000.

He was detained after he received a part of the benefit in the amount of 5 thousand dollars. The police seized this amount, the suspect's car, cell phone and bank cards as material evidence. He faces up to eight years in prison for his actions.

Earlier, employees of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) completed a pre-trial investigation of a law enforcement officer from Odesa region who promised to issue an illegal write-off from the military register in exchange for a monetary reward. In exchange for USD 15,000, he promised to organize the registration of a disability of the relevant group through a medical and social examination. This status would allow the person to be removed from the military register.

Earlier, SBI and SBU officers detained a law enforcement officer from Odesa region in Odesa who promised to help one of the men get a white ticket through her friends, doctors and employees of the district center for recruitment and social support. For USD 25,000, the man was to be removed from the military register, allowing him to leave Ukraine.
