The Kyiv District Court of Odesa sentenced three members of a criminal group that kidnapped a man to 10 years in prison, and two others to eight years in prison with confiscation of property.

This was reported by the press service of the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office.

Prosecutors proved in court that in March 2021 in Odesa, an organized group abducted a local resident, the son of entrepreneurs. He was illegally detained, demanding a ransom of USD 1 million from his relatives for his release.

After the kidnapping, the victim was transported to Kyiv, where law enforcement officers detained the criminals and released the victim.

The members of the organized group were waiting for the court verdict in custody.

In April 2024, a criminal group engaged in the illegal sale of weapons from the war zone will be brought to trial. The gang consisted of a resident of Odesa and two citizens from Transcaucasia. The police had been monitoring the group for several months and then documented the sale of an F-1 grenade for $150 and a Makarov pistol with 145 rounds of ammunition for $1,300.

Previously, in Odesa, law enforcement officers liquidated an organized criminal group that was engaged in the illegal sale of firearms and ammunition. The gang consisted of four local residents from the criminal environment. Their work was coordinated by a "thief in law" nicknamed "Mindia".

In February of the same year, law enforcement officers in Odesa exposed two local residents who were trying to sell grenades and TNT.

On February 5, 2024, SBU counterintelligence reported the neutralization of an extensive agent network of the Russian Federal Security Service. As a result of the special operation, five Russian agents operating in Odesa, Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk regions were simultaneously detained.
