The Prymorskyi District Court of Odesa upheld the claim of the Department of Labor and Social Policy of the Odesa City Council to recover from the man the money he received in the status of an internally displaced person.

This was reported by the Informer publication with reference to the court decision.

The man and his daughter were registered as internally displaced persons, and on the basis of his application, a monthly living allowance of UAH 5,000 was accrued from November 2022 to August 2024. On December 2, 2024, the verification established that he and his child had been abroad since July 30, 2023, and that he had not reported going abroad. Thus, the citizen and his child lost their right to assistance and received the living allowance illegally. Therefore, the Department went to court.

The overpaid amount of UAH 22,000 of accommodation allowance for internally displaced persons will be recovered from the man in favor of the Department of Labor and Social Policy of Odesa City Council.

In June 2025, the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine imposed a monetary penalty on the mobilized deputy of the Odesa City Council, Oleh Bryndak. The defense justified the reasons for his absence by claiming that Oleh Bryndak was deployed to another military unit in late May to perform combat missions. In December 2022, NABU detectives announced suspicions of bribery and participation in a criminal organization to three deputies of the Odesa mayor. They also detained a former MP and a confidant along with businessman Borys Kaufman in Odesa. According to the investigation, the deputy mayors, the businessman, the MP and the trustee were all links in the criminal organization.
