Odesa plans to spend 1 million 100 thousand hryvnias annually to support two festivals in the city. These are the Velvet Season festival and an event led by Hobart Earle.

The deputies agreed on the funding during a meeting of the commission on education, sports and interaction with public organizations.

According to Ivan Liptuga, director of the Department of Culture, the Velvet Season festival takes place for three weeks and is supported by the city. There are many concerts, opera stars admit. Liptuga emphasized that funds are allocated only for support, because the theater spends its own money.

"And the second is Hobar Earl and its event, which they hold around the City Day. These dates are in September. This is the Black Sea. The National Odesa Philharmonic Orchestra. That is, one hundred million is spent on these two events. We give money to institutions for events," said the head of the Department of Culture.

Meanwhile, the head of the commission, Oleh Etnarovych, agreed to support theatrical and artistic events that take place in the city.

"I also believe that we need to support art. That's why I say that Odesa has always been like home to me. What is Odesa? First of all, it is poetry. When we think of Odesa, we think of humor, poems, songs, and artists who worked here. That's why we need to support it. We need to find opportunities. I believe that a million hryvnias is really a small amount of money for the city. We have to spend it," said Etnarovych.

Meanwhile, the members of the Standing Committee on Planning, Budget and Finance again decided not to approve the allocation of UAH 40 million for the repair of the building that will house theYouth Municipal Center.

It should be noted that Odesa Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov ordered to convene the city council members for a regular session on April 16. Intent will traditionally broadcast the session online. Meanwhile, preparations for the session are underway. In particular, meetings of permanent deputy commissions are taking place to consider issues that may be submitted to the deputies for consideration at the session, and Intent is monitoring these meetings.
