The staff of the Odesa Young Spectator Theater announced the death of actress Lyudmila Lanets, who had worked at the theater for 45 years.

According to the theater, the actress was seriously ill in the last years of her life.

"She had many bright roles in her arsenal, Lyudmyla Mykolayivna was always smiling and positive, which supported the people around her. We will remember her like this-with a bright smile, waiting to go on stage," the actress's colleagues recalled.

In addition to her roles in theater, the actress actively acted in films in roles and episodes, for example, in series mostly co-produced by Ukraine and Russia, such as The Smile of God, or A Purely Odesa Story, Liquidation, and Cheater - 13 films in total.

The actress was born in 1948 and, in addition to theater and cinema, was involved in social activities. In particular, she was the founder of the NGO OKO, which saw its mission as "helping society to look at the world with different eyes through films, festivals, art, books, songs, dances, and concerts."

Earlier in Odesa, film producer Dmytro Grokhovsky passed away. He devoted almost two decades to preserving the Odesa Film Studio. In June, at the age of 88, the heart of writer and local historian Anatoliy Horbatiuk stopped beating. He wrote 16 books and more than 180 scientific and journalistic articles on Odesa and its historical heritage. He was also the oldest member of the Odesa Club.

A soloist of the Odesa National Opera and Ballet Theater, tenor Vladyslav Horai , Honored Artist of Ukraine, winner of the National Chamber Music Competition in Khmelnytsky, winner of the Antonín Dvořák International Vocal Competition (Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic), died while performing his volunteer mission.
