The court found Vitaliy Guru, the occupier-appointed deputy head of the Novokakhovka city military-civilian administration, guilty of collaboration and sentenced him to nine and a half years in prison with confiscation of property.

This was reported by the press service of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.

Prosecutors proved that in May 2022, the man voluntarily took the position of the so-called "Deputy Head of the Novokakhovka City Military-Civilian Administration."

In his pseudo-position, he performed administrative and economic functions, supervised the city's housing and communal services, managed the work of utilities, carried out illegal alienation of property and appointed "heads" of enterprises.

The convicted man currently continues to hold the position of the so-called "head of administration" of the temporarily occupied Nova Kakhovka. The sentence was passed in absentia. The convict will serve his sentence from the moment of his arrest.

Prior to the occupation of Nova Kakhovka, Gura was the head of the village of Dnipryany. In 2019, he worked as a chief mechanic at the City Vodokanal utility company of the Novokakhovka City Council, and before that, at Khersongaz and Heat Networks.

In March 2023, the collaborator was injured in an assassination attempt. In the summer of 2022, there were also reports of a so-called assassination attempt on him.

In March, the court also found Vladimir Leontiev, the former head of the occupation administration of the Kakhovka district and Nova Kakhovka, guilty in absentia of violating the laws and customs of war. In March 2022, he ordered the Russian military to kidnap and torture the mayor of Beryslav , Oleksandr Shapovalov.

A year ago, Leontyev was tried for the abduction of Oleh Baturin, a journalist from Kakhovka, Mykola Rizak, the mayor of Tavriysk, and Dmytro Vasyliev, the secretary of the Novokakhovka City Council. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
