A local resident is suspected of participating in the preparation and holding of a pseudo-referendum in Kherson

This was reported by the press service of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.

The post states that under the procedural guidance of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office, the local resident was notified of suspicion of collaboration (Part 2 of Article 28, Part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). She was also imposed a measure of restraint in the form of detention.

According to the investigation, in September 2022, the suspect was appointed to the position of a so-called "representative of the precinct election commission" operating in the Suvorov district of Kherson and preparing a pseudo-referendum on the region's accession to Russia. The woman received "voters" in the premises where the polling station was set up, issued ballots, and checked people against the lists.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine in Kherson region.

Earlier it was reported that the"head and member of the PEC" in Mykilske will be tried in Kherson region for organizing and conducting a pseudo-referendum. The investigation found that in September 2022, the accused voluntarily headed the so-called "precinct election commission" that operated in the village of Mykilske and prepared a pseudo-referendum on the region's secession from Ukraine and accession to Russia. As the "head of the PEC", he recruited staff and organized work in the "district". He agitated local residents to participate in the "expression of will". The other defendant became a member of this 'DC'. She made house-to-house visits to local residents, agitating them to participate in the 'vote', and distributed relevant materials with Russian symbols.

It was also reported that a law enforcement officer from Kherson region forced Ukrainians to participate in the illegal referendum.
