On April 18, Russian troops tried three times to break through in the area of Antonivskyi Bridge in the suburbs of Kherson. All attempts to storm the Prydniprovia direction were unsuccessful.

This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to the military, the enemy continues to actively attack the positions of Ukrainian forces on the left bank of the Dnipro. Most often, the assaults are carried out by small groups of 2-3 soldiers trying to force the river and gain a foothold on the islands.

According to Vladyslav Voloshyn, a spokesman for the Southern Defense Forces, Russian troops often use weather conditions, such as rain or fog, to cover their attacks. On average, 2-3 assaults are recorded in this area every day.

At the same time, Russian forces shelled 35 settlements in Kherson region over the past day. Critical and social infrastructure facilities were hit. Two high-rise buildings, eight private houses, a gas pipeline, a moped and a car were damaged.

According to the Institute for War Studies, one of the Russian military commanders announced that Ukrainian forces had struck the temporarily occupied Skadovsk. This port city is an important logistical hub for the Russian group between the occupied territories of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions and Crimea.

The situation in the south remains tense, with battles for control of the islands and attempts to cross the Dnipro River continuing.

As a reminder, on April 16, Russian troops attempted to break through the Ukrainian defense five times in the Prydniprovia section of the Dnipro River towards Antonivske.

Earlier, the British newspaper The Times published an article about Kherson, in which it pointed out that the city, which once celebrated liberation from Russian occupation, has now become a testing ground for modern methods of warfare. Russian troops have turned Kherson into an arena of terror, where drones have become the main weapon of intimidation and destruction of civilians.

Intent also wrote about how the Russian army carried out a series of targeted strikes on a civilian medical facility in the Dniprovsky district of Kherson. The enemy attacked the territory of one of the local hospitals three times using unmanned aerial vehicles.
