New Sports Area Opens at Yuzhnoukrainsk Beach with ₴548K Funding

A sports and play area was opened on the city beach in Yuzhnoukrainsk, Mykolaiv Oblast. It took more than 500 thousand grant funds.

According to the executive committee of the city council, the project was implemented thanks to funding from the international organization DanChurchAid. All the equipment was purchased and installed with the support of the city authorities, philanthropists, and volunteers.

The cost of the project amounted to UAH 548,526. These funds were used to purchase 24 outdoor exercise machines and a sports complex for workouts. New swings and playground equipment were purchased for the youngest visitors.

First Deputy Mayor Mykola Pokrova explained that the idea for the sports zone came up during workshops with young people in the spring of 2024. It was then that the youth expressed their suggestions for the renovation of the beach area.

The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the city authorities, a charitable organization, volunteers, and young athletes.

Meanwhile, Mykolaiv has allocated more than UAH 189 million from the budget for sports development. They also plan to build shelters in sports facilities, reconstruct and build a new sports town.

In addition, funding of UAH 160.65 million is planned for 2022-2025 as part of the comprehensive program "Physical Culture and Sports". These funds will help to develop sports infrastructure, organize competitions and popularize sports among the residents of Mykolaiv.

Recently, a new gym was opened in the Voznesenska community as part of the ADAPT project, which aims to support adaptive sports for different categories of people. The main goal of the project is to enable people with disabilities to play sports, improve their health, and adapt to social life.
