A new pilot boat, Gennadiy Zhuravkov, is on duty.

According to the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority, on July 17, the national flag was raised on the vessel in the seaport of Reni.

This boat was built in Ukraine with funding from USAID under the Economic Support for Ukraine Project.

The vessel was named in honor of Captain I rank Gennadiy Zhuravkov, who worked for Delta Pilot for more than 20 years and served as the head of the Odesa Regional Department of the state-owned enterprise USPA. Gennadiy Zhuravkov passed away after a long illness at the age of 69.

The ceremony of raising the national flag was attended by the Captain's family, the management of the Reni branch of USPA, Delta Pilot branch, and USAID representatives.

"Today I am very pleased to be here and see that the memory of my husband lives on, because a pilot boat was named after him," said Natalia Zhuravkova, his wife.

Dmytro Rudyavsky, Head of Fleet Services of Delta Pilot, handed over a photo of the boat and commemorative documents from the Shipping Administration on the naming of the pilot boat Gennadiy Zhuravkov to the captain's family.

"From now on, the name Gennadiy Zhuravkov will be heard on the radio in Ukrainian seaports again," the USPA summarized.

Earlier we wrote that the vessel was built bythe Ukrainian company UMS Marine.

As a reminder, Ukrainian ports on the Danube transshipped more than three million tons of various cargoes in one month.

Meanwhile, Nibulon decided to take a radical approach and relocated part of its fleet from Mykolaiv to the Danube.
