Mykolaiv theaters honored the memory of those killed in the Drama Theater in Mariupol. In 2022, the invaders dropped a bomb on the theater building, where many civilians who became victims of this terrible tragedy were hiding during the shelling.

This was reported by Druzhne TV.

On March 16, 2025, commemorative events were held in Ukraine to honor the victims of the Mariupol massacre. Mykolaiv theaters also joined these events.

Mykolaiv Academic Art Drama Theater became part of the all-Ukrainian action, honoring the victims with a minute of silence.

The staff of the Mykolaiv National Academic Ukrainian Drama and Musical Comedy Theater also paid tribute to the victims of the tragedy. In their address, they recalled the moments when they visited Mariupol in September 2021 to participate in the Theater Gate Festival. The visit left them with vivid memories of the theatrical atmosphere of the city, the hospitality of its residents and the special maritime flavor.

In addition, the theater staff shared painful memories of how three years ago, on March 16, 2022, Russia launched a devastating air strike on the Mariupol Drama Theater when many civilians were hiding in its premises. Today, as every year, the theaters of Mykolaiv commemorate this tragedy and honor the memory of the dead Mariupol residents who will remain forever in the hearts of Ukrainians.

In early March, Mykolaiv hosted events dedicated to the memory of military man, poet and public figure Hlib Babich. The regional universal scientific library presented a new edition of his poetry collection Poems and Songs, the first edition of which has 5,000 copies.

Mykolaiv also marked the third anniversary of the full-scale invasion with memorial events and an exhibition dedicated to the memory of the fallen heroes. An exhibition of photographs telling about the city's resistance during the war was opened near the Walk of Fame.

In addition, the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred were honored by laying flowers at the memorial sign and observing a minute of silence. This day was a reminder of the courage and sacrifice of those who gave their lives for the freedom and European future of Ukraine.
