Medical facilities in the Mykolaiv region plan to establish supervisory boards. These boards are intended to oversee the operations of hospitals, and their existence will become a mandatory requirement for entering into contracts with the National Health Service of Ukraine starting January 1, 2027.
This was discussed at a meeting of the Mykolaiv Regional Council’s Committee on Industrial Policy, Entrepreneurship, Transportation Infrastructure, Water Management, Energy and Energy Conservation, Communications, and Digitalization.
The deputies reviewed a draft resolution specifying the number of members on the future supervisory boards.
For most medical facilities planned to be classified as super-cluster hospitals, 11 members are envisaged for the supervisory board. Of these, six are to represent the public, and five—the facility’s owner, namely the Mykolaiv Regional Council.
For the war veterans’ hospital, which is planned to be designated as a general-profile hospital, five board members are envisaged. Three of them will represent the public, and two will represent the owner.
According to a representative of the regional council, the majority of the supervisory boards must consist of representatives of the public, in accordance with legal requirements.
First, a selection committee must be formed to choose representatives of the public. Among the requirements for candidates are relevant education, work experience, and a completed declaration.
The specific composition of each supervisory board will subsequently be submitted to the regional council deputies for consideration. In other words, during the committee meeting, they did not approve specific individuals, but rather the numerical composition of the future boards.
Once the decision is adopted and the selection process is complete, the members of the supervisory boards at each of the relevant medical facilities will be appointed.
