During the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities under the President of Ukraine, Mykolaiv shared how they worked on energy independence and implemented the region's Resilience Plan.

According to the press service of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, measures are being taken to achieve energy independence in the region amid constant hostile attacks on energy infrastructure.

According to Yevhen Gladkov, head of the Department of Housing and Communal Services, 25 solar power plants with a total capacity of 1.3 MW have already been installed at social facilities, and 29 stations with a capacity of 1.6 MW have been installed at water and sewerage utilities.

As part of the development of cogeneration units (CCGTs), seven new facilities with a total capacity of 10.1 MW are planned to be installed by the end of 2024.

In 2025-2026, it is planned to expand generation using solar energy (three facilities with a capacity of 30.9 MW) and wind (six facilities with a capacity of 28.8 MW).

The region is also actively cooperating with donors and businesses to implement more than 40 energy efficiency projects.

Yevhen Hladkov asked the government to facilitate technical assistance for the installation of cogeneration facilities in medical institutions.

Deputy Minister of Energy Mykola Kolisnyk confirmed his readiness to support Mykolaiv region. According to him, a group of 30 specialists has been created to provide technical assistance to communities and regions.

"As for cooperation with donors, most of them work with central authorities, so our main task is to develop project proposals and quickly attract funding," Kolisnyk said.

Vitaliy Kim, head of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, suggested that the contacts of this group be transferred to organize technical expertise in the communities. This will help to form an effective energy plan for the region.

"It is our common duty to create 'islands of energy independence' in each community of the region," Kim emphasized.

He urged communities to actively engage in the work on the Green Energy Plan, as it is the future of Ukraine.

Special attention was also paid to supporting veterans and their families. The region already has comprehensive assistance programs in place, as well as an online platform that combines all the necessary services. They also discussed strategies for the region's recovery with international partners.

More than UAH 35 million was allocated from the budget to install power supplies and prepare educational institutions for the winter. Today, educational institutions in the region are equipped with 782 autonomous power sources of various capacities and 80 energy-efficient Tesla systems that can be used in case of power outages. A total of 43 Tesla systems and 156 generators have been installed in the institutions under the regional jurisdiction.
