Mykolaiv region has decided to create an environmental and energy park. It is planned to raise UAH 180 million for the project.

This was reported by the Center for Public Investigations with reference to the Dream digital recovery ecosystem.

It is planned to reconstruct local wastewater treatment plants and a solid waste landfill with further transformation into an ecological and energy park.

The goal of the project is to restore and develop infrastructure to meet the needs of key stakeholder groups. It also includes the development of a water supply and sewage system in the settlements of the Ochakiv community.

The project was initiated by the Ochakiv City Council.

The project envisages the reconstruction of local wastewater treatment facilities to treat wastewater from household waste with the possibility of further using the treated water to grow energy willow, which will become a raw material for the production of biofuel for local boilers. To increase energy independence, solar panels will be installed at the facility to provide it with electricity.

A 4.5-hectare landfill is located next to the treatment plant. It is planned to build a modern sorting line for composting biowaste and recycling polyethylene into fuel. The project also involves the construction of a 2 MW biofuel combined heat and power plant (CHP) and a combined heat and power cogeneration plant.

The total project budget is UAH 180 million. The date of fundraising is from January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2026.

The vacated territories are planned to be used for the construction of a high-tech greenhouse complex and storage ponds. The project can be implemented in several stages.

Mykolaiv region also came up with an idea to create a modern hub out of an old boiler house. More than UAH 17 million can be raised for the reconstruction of the building. It is planned to reconstruct the boiler house into a multifunctional hub in Voznesensk. The purpose of the growth hub is to combine resources, knowledge and support to accelerate the development of startups, businesses and innovations.

France provided funds for the construction of the school farm worth over UAH 300 million. The Mykolaiv National Agrarian University is planning to create an educational, research and production complex that will combine the construction of a pig farm, a biogas plant for generating biogas and electricity, a waste pellet production line, solar power plants, a thermal complex and a mini-meat processing plant.

Innovations in the region are being implemented in various areas. For example, Mykolaiv region will have an organ transplantation laboratory for the first time. It is being equipped at a local clinical hospital. The project budget is UAH 24.1 million. For this purpose, the food unit is being reconstructed. The Mykolaiv laboratory will be the third interregional laboratory in Ukraine.
