In Mykolaiv region, a man faces punishment for polluting the lands of the nature reserve fund - the territory of the Tiligulsky Regional Landscape Park.

This was reported by the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.

According to the investigation, in 2023, the entrepreneur deliberately failed to fulfill his waste management obligations. In order to save money, he did not organize the sorting, collection and disposal of waste in the park. As a result, the land was littered and polluted over an area of 150 square meters. The amount of damage caused to the environment is almost UAH 600 thousand. The aggrieved party filed a lawsuit demanding compensation. Prosecutors of the Specialized Environmental Prosecutor's Office have already submitted it to court along with the indictment. The case was investigated by investigators of the Investigation Department of the Mykolaiv Oblast National Police.

The hazardous waste was stored in the Mykolaiv region, causing almost UAH 4 million in environmental damage . According to the prosecutor's office, the head of the company organized a scheme for the removal, storage and disposal of waste without a license. He involved an accountant and a driver in the implementation. The accountant prepared falsified documents for participation in public procurement through the Prozorro system. As a result, the company entered into 26 contracts worth almost UAH 800 thousand with municipal and state institutions in the region, including medical facilities.

As a reminder, Mykolaiv region was ranked first in terms of toxic waste in the south. In 2024, Mykolaiv region became the anti-leader in the South of Ukraine in terms of hazardous waste generation, ahead of Odesa and Kherson regions. The region is in a critical environmental risk zone due to the active operation of industrial and agricultural enterprises.
