Mykolaiv Police Detain 28-Year-Old for Selling Weapons, Seize Grenade and 750 Rounds of Ammo

In Mykolaiv region, law enforcement officers detained a man suspected of selling weapons and ammunition, seizing a grenade, an assault rifle and more than 750 rounds of ammunition. The investigation is ongoing, and the suspect faces up to seven years in prison.

This was reported by the press service of the National Police in Mykolaiv region.

In Bashtanka, police detained a man suspected of selling weapons and ammunition. The detention took place immediately after the suspect sold a grenade. Investigators then charged him. The attacker was a 28-year-old local resident. A fuze and an RGD-5 grenade body, as well as the proceeds of the sale, were found at the scene.

During an authorized search of the suspect's residence, conducted with the support of the Prosecutor's Office, an assault rifle with 30 rounds, an RGD-5 grenade with a fuse, more than 750 rounds of ammunition and an unregistered hunting rifle with a large caliber of ammunition were seized. All items were sent for expert examination.

Investigators served him a notice of suspicion under Part 1 Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives.

The court will soon determine a measure of restraint for the suspect. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. He faces a sentence of imprisonment for up to seven years.

Recently, Mykolaiv police detained a 45-year-old man who was selling drugs through the mail and personally delivering them to customers. During the search, they found a large amount of drugs, explosives and ammunition.

In January, law enforcement officers conducted large-scale operations, discovering and seizing hundreds of ammunition, explosives and weapons in the region. During more than fifty searches, more than 700 rounds of ammunition, 18 grenades, automatic weapons, and about 7 kilograms of explosives were confiscated.

Earlier, the police detained a 25-year-old resident of Mykolaiv on the sale of explosives and weapons. Two F-1 and RGD-5 grenades, almost 200 rounds of ammunition and UAH 10,000 received for selling ammunition were seized at the scene of the arrest.
