Mykolaiv approved a program for housing and utilities and allocated more than 65 billion for its development. The main focus will be on reconstruction and restoration of infrastructure and elimination of the consequences of shelling.

The decision was made at a session of the Mykolaiv City Council.

Members of the Mykolaiv City Council approved a program for the development of the city's housing and utilities sector for the period 2025-2029. It is planned to spend UAH 65.9 billion for its implementation.

According to Igor Nabatov, deputy director of the Housing and Utilities Department, the actual funds allocated will be significantly less.

The official noted that this ratio could be even less favorable in the future, given the city 's total budget of UAH 5.3 billion, which includes funding for all areas, from social to educational.

The housing and utilities reform program includes four main areas: repair and maintenance of housing and utilities facilities, war damage recovery, maintenance of utilities, and other measures related to waste management, pest control, housing stock inspection, etc.

The program has an ambitious goal, but its financing remains a major challenge. The main focus is on preventing and eliminating emergencies, including the consequences of the war caused by Russian aggression. It is planned to select about 60 facilities for repair work under this initiative.

Mykolaiv is one of five Ukrainian communities participating in the HOPE project led by the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine. The source of funding is, in particular, the European Investment Bank.

In addition, the city authorities have allocated more than UAH 28 million for the economic and social development of the city. They plan to build two memorials, a columbarium, install loudspeakers, create an industrial park, and digitize the city's topography.
