Mykolaiv has developed an investment project to upgrade the city's electric transport, which is designed to provide the community with modern transportation. It is planned to raise more than UAH 2 billion for its implementation.

This is evidenced by data from the DREAM digital recovery ecosystem.

The project was initiated and executed by the Mykolaivelectrotrans utility company, which currently operates 10 trolleybus and 6 tram routes used by tens of thousands of city residents every day.

The main goal is to upgrade the rolling stock, which is largely outdated and does not meet modern standards of energy efficiency and accessibility for people with limited mobility. The project envisages the purchase of 40 trolleybuses with emergency autonomous operation, 40 trolleybuses with autonomous operation up to 20 km, and 31 modern trams.

The initiators noted that the company has a trolleybus and tram depot with the appropriate technological equipment, a car repair shop, energy, maintenance, track and traffic services. However, the rolling stock needs to be updated to meet energy supply standards and improve passenger comfort.

The estimated budget of the project is UAH 2.4 billion, most of which is capital expenditures for the purchase and depreciation of equipment. The design and estimate documentation has already been approved, and the project has passed environmental certification and is included in the Unified Project Portfolio.

However, there is currently no confirmed funding, so implementation depends on attracting resources. The project is in line with the Territorial Community Development Strategy. According to the description, the launch of the renewed electric transport will not only reduce the environmental burden but also improve the quality of services for passengers, including people with disabilities.

It is also planned to upgrade the traction substation in Mykolaiv, which will improve the efficiency of electric transport. The project is to raise UAH 64 million for the purchase of modern equipment.
