At its session on October 29, the Mykolaiv City Council did not approve the community’s budget forecast for 2027–2029. The issue was put to a vote twice, but the council members ultimately failed to reach a decision.
This became known from the live broadcast of the city council meeting.
The forecast was presented by Vira Svyatelik, director of the city council’s finance department. According to her, calculations showed that the Mykolaiv City Territorial Community does not have sufficient funds to cover all its needs.
According to the document, budget revenues—excluding interbudgetary transfers—are projected at 5.66 billion hryvnias in 2027, 6.26 billion hryvnias in 2028, and 6.87 billion hryvnias in 2029. Thus, over three years, expected revenues are projected to increase by approximately 1.21 billion hryvnias.
Taxes remain the main source of revenue. Revenues from personal income tax are projected to reach 3.45 billion hryvnias in 2027, 3.89 billion hryvnias in 2028, and 4.37 billion hryvnias in 2029.
The budget forecast is influenced by uncertainties regarding the security situation, the volume of international financial aid, migration trends, and other factors affecting the economy.
Also, on October 29, during a discussion of the budget projections at a city council session, one of the council members used profanity.
