SBU officers detained an AFU serviceman for high treason. He passed on the coordinates of Ukrainian troops and tried to recruit colleagues.

This is evidenced by the decision of the Central District Court of Mykolaiv.

In Mykolaiv, law enforcement officers detained a serviceman of one of the Ukrainian Armed Forces aviation units on suspicion of treason. According to the investigation, he deliberately defected to the enemy and passed information to Russian intelligence about the location of Ukrainian troops, the movement of weapons and ammunition.

The investigation established that the man acted on pro-Russian motives and personal beliefs, realizing the socially dangerous nature of his actions. He used mobile phones and the Telegram messenger to transmit the coordinates of his unit and other military equipment to representatives of the Russian Federal Security Service.

In February 2025, he sent screenshots of his unit's locations to his Russian handlers. In May 2025, he continued to transmit information about the positions of Ukrainian troops in the Mykolaiv region by corresponding with an FSB officer. During these messages, they discussed specific actions of the Armed Forces units, as well as ways to obtain new data and pass it on to the enemy.

Investigators also recorded that the serviceman tried to recruit his colleagues to defect to the enemy and surrender, motivating them to cooperate with Russia. Audio recordings show that he discussed with an FSB representative the readiness of his subordinates to provide information and defect to the enemy.

On August 13, 2025, the suspect was detained while attempting to commit a crime. The investigating judge chose a measure of restraint in the form of detention until January 10, 2026. The pre-trial investigation in the case was extended for five months.

Also in Mykolaiv, a man was taken into custody on suspicion of high treason. According to the investigation, he passed information about the location of military units and strategic facilities in the city to a representative of the aggressor state. The information was sent via a messenger and included the coordinates of the facilities, schedules of troop deployment and security of critical enterprises.
