Mykolaiv decided to send vulnerable children on vacation

Vacations in safe regions of Ukraine have been planned for little Mykolaiv residents of vulnerable social categories. Lviv and Zakarpattia regions will host the children.

The decision was made at a meeting of the budget committee of the Mykolaiv City Council.

The deputies proposed to consider a draft decision on the city program of social protection of children "Children of Mykolaiv".

This program is based on the existing program, which will expire at the end of 2024. The developer of this program is the Service for Children of the Mykolaiv City Council. The program has been approved by the specialized commission.

It was noted that there are 10,000 IDP children in Mykolaiv who need social assistance and recreational activities. In addition, 1058 children also need such services. The cost of a day of recreation for children is 1381 UAH. Children should go to Zakarpattia and Lviv region.

The recommendation was accepted and will be submitted to the session of the Mykolaiv City Council.

Mykolaiv also allocated financial assistance for foster caregivers. This initiative was aimed at supporting children temporarily living in such families by providing them with care, education and rehabilitation until the state starts paying social assistance. The funds allocated should cover the needs of children in accordance with the subsistence minimum: 2.5 minimum wages for each child.

In addition, Mykolaiv has allocated over thirteen million hryvnias from the city budget to support children. The main focus is on supporting orphans and those left without parental care. It is also planned to provide furniture for family-type orphanages, repair the premises and grounds, and pay UAH 6.2 million in financial assistance to families raising foster children.
