Mykolaiv has approved amendments to the Social Protection program for 2024-2026. The program will provide assistance to citizens affected by the war, the Chernobyl disaster and people with disabilities. More than one and a half billion hryvnias have been allocated for this purpose.

At a meeting of the executive committee of the Mykolaiv City Council, important changes were made to the city's Social Protection Program for 2024-2026, which provides for financial assistance to various categories of citizens, including people with disabilities, families of fallen soldiers, and victims of the Chernobyl disaster. The program aims to improve the level of social protection and provide adequate support to the most vulnerable groups of the population.

The program will be funded from two main sources:

From the budget of the Mykolaiv City Territorial Community, the total amount of funding of which is UAH 1,509,519.7 thousand, in particular

Own revenues of budgetary institutions with a total amount of UAH 6,367.6 thousand, in particular

The program provides for assistance to citizens affected by the war, the Chornobyl disaster and people with disabilities. It is also planned to support the families of fallen soldiers and provide social services for the elderly and people with disabilities.

According to the decision, the expansion of social protection services will improve living conditions and help address the urgent social needs of the community. The changes will be financed from the budget of the Mykolaiv city community.

Previously, over UAH 462 million was allocated for the social protection program in Mykolaiv. The program is aimed at protecting the city's residents, territories, cultural heritage and the natural environment.

In 2024, social services of Mykolaiv provided assistance and additional services to the community, covering more than 150,000 people, including more than 40,000 IDPs.

Also, the program "Children of Mykolaiv" for 2025-2027 was approved, which provides for the purchase of social housing for orphans and children deprived of parental care, for which UAH 4.6 million was allocated. In addition, a mechanism for financial assistance for foster caregivers was introduced.
