Mykolaiv actor to star in Netflix anime adaptation

Ukrainian actor Oleksandr Rudynskyi from Mykolaiv has landed a role in the large-scale Netflix project Gandam.

This was reported by New Channel.

<span>The Mykolaiv resident will play in the adaptation of the cult anime alongside Euphoria star Sidney Sweeney and Jason Isaacs. </span>In <span>addition </span>, the cast includes Noah Centineo, Jackson White, Javon Walton, Michael Mando, Gemma Chua-Tran, Shioli Kutsuna, Nonso Anozie, Ida Brooke and Alexander Rudinsky. The film will be directed by Jim Mickle.

"Gandam" is a science fiction universe that appeared in 1979. The project launched the "mecha" genre, which focuses on combat robots, and became a global cultural phenomenon.

Although the details of the film have not been disclosed, according to Deadline, the movie will tell the story of the rivalry between combat robot pilots fighting on opposite sides of a long-running war between Earth and its former space colonies.

The filming of the adventure movie for the Netflix streaming platform has already started in Queensland, Australia.

The film is directed by Jim Mickle and produced by Legendary Pictures in association with Bandai Namco Filmworks.

<b>Oleksandr Rudynskyi</b> is a theater and film actor known for his role in the movie Rock, Scissors, Paper, which won the BAFTA Award for Best Short Film. During the award ceremony, he dedicated his speech to his actor and friend Yevhen Svitlychnyi, who died in the war.

Ukrainian audiences are also familiar with Rudynsky from the TV series The First Swallows, the short film Farewell, Golovin, and the film Rhino by Oleg Sentsov. Last year, the actor appeared in the Paramount+ series The Agency starring Michael Fassbender and Netflix's The Decameron, where he played the Eyes Only Bandit.

After the start of the full-scale invasion, he appeared in the movie Stay Online and in an episode of the TV series The First Days about the first months of the war. In comedy roles, the actor can be seen in the films The Best Weekend and The Condominium Meeting.

Rudynsky is an active theater actor: previously at the Left Bank Theater, and since 2018 at the Ivan Franko Theater. His roles include Stolen Happiness, Caligula, Maria Stewart, and others.
