The Kherson City Court found Oleksandr Shevchenko, a deputy of the Novokakhovka City Council from the Servant of the People party, guilty of collaboration and sentenced him in absentia to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.

This is evidenced by the relevant court verdict.

According to the investigation, in March 2023, Shevchenko voluntarily took up the position of chief specialist in the occupation "Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Kherson region". A month later, he was promoted to the head of the media relations department of the same pseudo-ministry. In this position, he actively gave interviews to Russian propaganda media.

In addition, witnesses confirmed that his own advertising agency was involved in the production and posting of pro-Russian propaganda banners in Nova Kakhovka. In particular, he also headed the occupation "Kherson Regional Information and Consultation Center".

The court ruled to confiscate four of his cars: Volkswagen Tiguan, Scoda Octavia, Mersedes-Benz Sprint and Renault Trafic. Prior to the full-scale invasion, Oleksandr Shevchenko, a native of Melitopol, was engaged in outdoor advertising. He became a member of the city council due to his friendly relations with other traitors, Danylo and Eduard Repilevsky.

As a reminder, Shevchenko received a suspicion in absence on March 13, 2024. The investigation established that the MP voluntarily defected to the enemy around March 2023. The criminal proceedings against Shevchenko were opened on July 14, 2023.

The SBU exposed an agent group that adjusted strikes in Kherson region. A 65-year-old man, a member of the cell, was waiting for the full occupation of the region and was collecting information about the location of the Ukrainian military to help Russian troops.

The main task of the detainee was to identify warehouses with weapons and ammunition, as well as the base points of the Ukrainian military and UAV units. To do this, he drove around the city in his own car, recording objects that he believed to be military. In addition, he tracked the movement of military equipment and tried to obtain additional information by asking volunteers he knew under the guise of everyday conversations.
