An investigation has been completed in Kherson region against a deputy of the regional council who is accused of high treason for collaborating with the occupation authorities. According to the investigation, he registered agricultural firms in the Russian Federation system, campaigned for a "referendum" and helped the enemy army with equipment and food.

This was reported by the press service of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.

Law enforcement officers have completed an investigation into a deputy of the Kherson Regional Council who is accused of treason. According to the investigation, back in May 2022, while in the occupied territory of the Tavrychanska community of Kakhovka district, the 37-year-old sided with the Russian invaders and began to actively cooperate with them.

Having the status of a deputy, the man used his authority among local residents to spread pro-Russian propaganda: he persuaded farmers and entrepreneurs to adapt to the laws of the Russian Federation, and personally registered agricultural firms with the so-called "tax service of the Russian Federation", helping to fill the budget of the aggressor country.

According to prosecutors, he forced his employees to obtain Russian passports and participate in a pseudo-referendum on the region's "accession" to Russia. In addition, he organized the export of Ukrainian agricultural products to Russia and the temporarily occupied Crimea, passing them off as Russian products for further export.

Separately, the investigation established that the accused facilitated logistics for the Russian troops: he helped repair equipment, build defensive structures and supplied food to the occupiers. The indictment was sent to court.

Another resident of Kherson, Mykhailo Horbunov, is also suspected of treason. According to the investigation, he cooperated with the Russian military in the occupied territory: he supplied them with food and passed on information about local residents and ATO participants.

Recently, in Kherson, law enforcement officers took a woman into custody for collaborating with the occupiers - during the seizure of the city, she headed a medical facility created by the invaders and personally raised the Russian tricolor over it. Law enforcement officers notified her of suspicion of aiding the aggressor state.
