A woman from the Berezovsky district of Odesa region beat her own one-year-old child when the boy became ill and took him to the hospital, where he died.

This was reported by the press service of the National Police in Odesa region.

They said that a few days ago, the child was taken to the Odesa Regional Children's Hospital in an unconscious state. Doctors diagnosed the boy with a brain contusion, as well as old fractures of the humerus and ulna. Despite the doctors' efforts, they failed to save the child and he died.

The investigation found that a 26-year-old resident of the Berezovsky district brought her son to the doctors and said that he had fallen out of bed. But later, police found out that the child had been injured by the mother herself during a fit of aggression when the boy was crying.

The police emphasized that the woman had no previous problems with the law. However, now she has been notified of suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm that led to death (Article 121 of the Criminal Code). She has been detained, and the court has chosen a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention. She faces five to eight years in prison for her actions.

As part of the investigation, a forensic medical examination has been ordered to finally confirm the cause of the child's death. The Berezovsk District Prosecutor's Office is providing procedural guidance in the case.

Earlier, Intent wrote about how a 19-year-old partner of a 36-year-old woman severely beat her child in Bolhradsky district. The three-year-old boy was taken to the hospital in an unconscious state, but he could not be saved.

Also in Odesa, a 2.5-month-old girl was taken to intensive care after being severely beaten by her own father. The man also beat his two-year-old son.
