More than 300 million allocated: Kherson and Mykolaiv water utilities to receive new equipment

The government has allocated UAH 334 million to the Recovery Agency to improve water supply and restore critical infrastructure in the regions. Five water utilities, including Kherson and Mykolaiv, will receive equipment for water purification and stable supply.

This was reported by the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine.

It is noted that water utilities in Kherson, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Mykolaiv, and Kyiv will receive water treatment equipment and equipment to ensure uninterrupted water supply.

Earlier, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) donated specialized vehicles for road inspection to the Recovery Agency.

"Currently, we are discussing the purchase of additional attachments for these vehicles, which will be used for instrumental inspection of roads of national importance in the affected regions," the ministry said in a statement.

They confirmed that in addition to the infrastructure projects of the Recovery Agency, the funds were used to purchase equipment for educational institutions and medical equipment. Funds have also been allocated for stable electricity supply, construction and equipment for humanitarian mine action by the SES, and strengthening border security.

In total, the adopted resolution unblocks about UAH 2.45 billion allocated under a grant agreement with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) under the Emergency Recovery Program.

Earlier, Mykolaiv launched an initiative aimed at improving the efficiency of the city's water supply. The project, titled 'Unrevenue Water: Reconstruction of the Water Supply System in a Selected Area of Mykolaiv', has already entered the design stage. The project is funded by a grant from the Danish Government.

In addition, by the end of 2025, a modern filtration station is to be launched at the water supply system in Mykolaiv. Its key feature is the full automation of the water treatment and quality control process.

It also became known that UAH 185 million was spent to modernize Kherson's water supply. In 2025, the Municipal Utility Company "VUVKG of Kherson" will pay considerable attention to the water supply. Kherson has paid considerable attention to updating the water supply infrastructure and ensuring electricity supply. The most notable expenditures were related to capital repairs and equipment modernization.
