More than 15 settlements in Odesa region affected by floods

Flooding in Rozdilnyansky district affected 15 settlements in Stepanivska, Zakharivska, Tsebrykivska and Velykomykhailivska territorial communities.

This was reported by the press service of the Odesa Regional Military Administration.

A total of 93 houses in these communities are flooded. Another 75 houses were damaged by the flood in Mykolaivka, Chohodarivka, Shyriayivka, Petrovirivka and Chernivtsi communities of Berezivka district.

The State Emergency Service, local authorities and assistance from local entrepreneurs and individuals were used to respond to the floods: excavators, dump trucks, sanitizers, tractors and forklifts. In addition, the relevant services and communities were instructed to identify areas of possible further flooding, ensure constant monitoring of the hydrological situation and prompt response.

Local governments, together with the relevant services, were instructed to inspect the damaged housing to record the damage and further resolve the issue of compensation to residents. Extraordinary sessions are being convened in communities to redirect funds from other programs to partially compensate for the damage.

Earlier, the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service reported that the previous day, as a result of snowmelt, adjoining territories in 24 private households in Podil district were flooded. Seven private households in Rozdilnyansky district and seven private households in Berezovsky district.

Meanwhile, the Black and Azov Sea Hydrometeorological Center predicted cloudy conditions in Odesa region on February 17. No significant precipitation at night, light, sometimes moderate precipitation during the day. During the day, in some places there will be slush build-up, ice cover. Northeast wind of 9-14 meters per second. The temperature at night will be 0-5 degrees below zero, in the north up to 9 degrees below zero, during the day from 3 degrees below zero to 2 degrees above zero. In Odesa, 1-3 degrees below zero at night, 0-2 degrees below zero during the day. On the roads of the region, visibility during precipitation is 1-2 km. In some places, there will be ice cover.

It should be noted that last year, 9 people died in Odesa as a result of bad weather on September 30, including one child. The bad weather caused serious damage: flooding of roads, power outages, property damage, and trees falling down.
