A technical error regarding Crimea in the 7th grade Ukrainian language textbook is suggested to be corrected by teachers together with students. They used the icon of Ukraine without Crimea.

Thus, one of the authors of the textbook , Anastasia Onatiy, apologized and explained that it was due to a technical error.

"I'll start with the main thing: we sincerely recognize our mistake, the icon in the form of Ukraine without Crimea got into the book due to an unfortunate inattention. We didn't check it, we didn't look after it - we can call it differently, but the fact remains that we unknowingly hurt people and we apologize for that.

Crimea is ours, Ukrainian - this is an indisputable statement, and we are saying it clearly again and are ready to do it again and again. We care about your opinion, we care about the unity of society," the author wrote.

She also suggested launching a flash mob called "Finish the Crimea," as the mistake cannot be corrected in the printed books.

"Fellow educators, please take 10-15 minutes in class to discuss this mistake with your students and draw the icon in the textbook on page 3. Please support us - it will be a good opportunity to talk about Crimea and its Ukrainianness. And also, of course, about information traps and the importance of recognizing one's own mistakes," Anastasia addressed the teachers.

She expressed hope for understanding and assured that the authors of the textbook are waiting for photos from the flash mobs.

In the post, she also said that "now 'convenient' maps of Ukraine with two 'layers' of images - with and without Crimea - are being posted on the drains." According to her, the error occurred when overlaying the contours. For a detailed explanation from the layout designers, follow the link.

Anastasia Onatiy also added that "if you come across any more inaccuracies, be sure to write to us - we are always open to feedback and strive to make our materials better. Only those who do nothing are never wrong."
