The serviceman was notified of suspicion because of his work in the occupation detention center in Kherson region during the Russian occupation. After the de-occupation of the region, he joined the Armed Forces, but later law enforcement officers exposed his past and detained him.

This was reported by the press service of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office of the Southern Region.

According to the investigation, in 2022, during the temporary occupation of the Kherson region, the man voluntarily agreed to take the position of "junior inspector of the 2nd category" in the illegally created Detention Center No. 1 of the occupation department of the penitentiary service.

The investigation believes that for his work for the occupation administration, he received about 40 thousand Russian rubles per month. In his position, the suspect supervised the detention of prisoners, monitored compliance with internal regulations and contributed to the functioning of the occupation penal system.

After the liberation of Kherson, the man concealed the fact of cooperation with the occupiers and joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In February 2025, he left the military unit without permission and was hiding at his place of residence. It was there that he was detained by law enforcement officers.

The man is currently charged with collaboration. The court sent the man to custody without the right to be released on bail. He faces up to 15 years in prison under the article.

Law enforcement also exposed two residents of Kherson who collected data on the Ukrainian military and passed it on to the FSB. The episodes under investigation include the transfer of the coordinates of the location of personnel of one of the military units in Kherson, as well as data on the launch positions of drones of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to the investigation, this information could have been used to prepare strikes against the Ukrainian military.
