MG ZS specifications you need to know before buying

In this article, we will talk about a car that has made a lot of noise among drivers - the new MG ZS. It attracts with its stylish look and affordable price, positioning itself as an ideal option for the city. But choosing a car based on looks alone is a risky business. That is why I propose to analyze the technical characteristics of the crossover in more detail to understand what this popular SUV actually offers.

Engines and transmissions

The MG ZS offers two gasoline powertrain options on the market, and the choice is not as easy as it seems.

There is also a choice of gearboxes: 5-speed manual - for those who like full control of the car; 4-speed automatic - a little archaic, but simple and reliable option; CVT - smooth acceleration without jerking, which is ideal for traffic jams.

Dimensions and ground clearance

The car's length of 4.32 m, width of 1.81 m and wheelbase of 2.59 m make the MG ZS maneuverable in city traffic. But the most interesting thing for our roads is the ground clearance. The ground clearance ranges from 16.5-17.5 cm. This is the very "gold standard" that allows you not to be afraid of most curbs and drive on a dirt road to the country.

Trunk and capacity

The trunk of MG ZS is one of the trump cards: the volume is from 448 liters! A baby carriage, several suitcases, or a week's worth of groceries will fit in there without any problems. And if you fold down the rear row of seats, you get all 1166 liters - you can even transport a small refrigerator.

There is enough space for two adults of average height in the second row. It will be cramped for three, but for short distances it is quite realistic. For a young family, this is a great option.

Fuel consumption

In a mixed cycle, the fuel consumption of a 1.5-liter engine will be 6.5-7.5 liters/100 km. The turbocharged 1.0 liter is a little more economical - 6.0-6.8 liters/100 km. Of course, these figures may increase in urban traffic jams. The 45-liter fuel tank provides a range of 500-600 km.

Dynamics and drive train

Acceleration to 100 km/h takes 10.9 seconds to 12.4 seconds. This is enough to keep up with the flow, but you are unlikely to win at traffic lights. The top speed is 170-180 km/h. The drive is exclusively front-wheel drive. AWD is not provided even for an additional fee.

Summing up, we can safely say: MG ZS is an honest car for its price. It offers a reliable set of characteristics for a comfortable life in the city and beyond. Therefore, if you are seriously thinking about buying an MG ZS, my advice is to go through all the parameters once again carefully to make sure that it is right for you.
