The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine has prematurely terminated the contract with the rector of Kherson State Agrarian and Economic University, Yuriy Kyrylov.

The rector announced his dismissal on social media, noting that he had received the document on the termination of the contract not from the Ministry of Education and Science, but through third-party sources.

The corresponding order was signed by Education Minister Oksen Lisovyi, and from December 30, 2024, Kirillov officially ceases to lead the educational institution.

"It's strange that there is a copy and it's not in the walls of the Ministry of Education. But this and other miracles will be evaluated by the court, time and life. Later there will be many details..." Kirillov wrote, hinting at his intention to appeal the Ministry's decision in court.

Currently, there are no official comments from the Ministry of Education and Science on the reasons for this decision. It is expected that additional details regarding the rector's dismissal will be released later.

Earlier, the State Education Quality Service of Ukraine published the results of the assessment of higher education institutions for the 2024/2025 academic year by the degree of risk in the field of economic activity. The list includes five universities in the Kherson region.

Kherson State University received a medium risk level with 25 points, while Kherson State Agrarian and Economic University has a low risk level with 20 points. The assessment was based on criteria such as accreditation of educational programs, publication of documentation and other requirements set by law.

Earlier, Kherson universities were included in the annual ranking of higher education institutions in Ukraine. In particular, Kherson State University took 51st place, Kherson State Maritime Academy - 88th, Kherson National Technical University - 115th, Kherson State Agrarian University - 117th.

Meanwhile, an associate professor at one of Kherson 's higher education institutions agreed to become the dean of the faculty under the Russian invaders. The woman was notified in absentia of suspicion of collaboration.
