Renovations under the guise of restoration of one of the semi-circular architectural monuments of national importance, the Zavadovsky House, have begun in Odesa.

A McDonald's is to open on the ground floor right behind Duke's, the Dumskaya newspaper reported.

The internal redevelopment will allow the historic premises to be fully adapted to the needs of a commercial kitchen and a hall for visitors. It also provides for the improvement of the surrounding area.

The Zavadovsky House is a building on Primorsky Boulevard in Odesa. It is part of a semicircular square ensemble at the intersection of the boulevard, European Square, and the Giant Stairs. The architects are Francesco Boffo and Avram Melnikov. The house was built at the private expense of the traveler Ivan Zavadovsky. It was built from 1827 to 1830. In 1832, a hotel with 60 rooms was opened in the building. The hotel had one of the most expensive restaurants in the city. The hotel was considered prestigious, and at various times famous personalities stayed there (Franz Liszt, Mark Twain, Modest Mussorgsky, Sergei Rachmaninoff). After the 1917 revolution, the building housed the management of the Black Sea Shipping Company. Now the building combines residential and business premises.

According to the documentation, the object is subject to restoration without changing the external dimensions of the foundations. The building at 1 Evropeiska Square has been fenced off, with an information stand indicating the work. The developer of the project documentation is the Ecostroy+ Research and Production Center.

This organization is owned by Natalia Sukhanova, the wife of Honored Builder of Ukraine Volodymyr Sukhanov. The company is known for restoration projects of many Odesa monuments. In particular, the Potemkin Stairs, the Shah's Palace, and the Vorontsov Colonnade.

The project was examined by the Pivden Budekspertyza Expert Inspection Center LLC and received a positive opinion. Prostor Yug Construction Company LLC was appointed as the general contractor.

The customer of the restoration is Foodmarket LLC. The company is owned by Valeriy Vaynerman from Odesa.
