The Tatarbunary District Court of Odesa Region sentenced the driver of a reconnaissance unit of a reconnaissance platoon of a marine battalion to two years in prison for threatening to kill a police officer.

As stated in the court' s verdict, the incident occurred in June in a village in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district of Odesa region.

On the evening of June 26, a police officer was informed that a man had beaten his wife in a house. The police captain and his colleagues arrived at the scene and were confronted by the man, who began to threaten him with beating him and then swung his fist at the policeman. The officer was afraid for his life and health and dodged the punch, and then handcuffed the attacker.

Thecourt found it inappropriate to examine the evidence regarding the circumstances that were not disputed by anyone, limiting itself to interrogating the accused, interrogating the victim and examining the materials characterizing the accused.

The verdict comes into force after the deadline for filing an appeal, if no such appeal has been filed.

Earlier, a deputy of the Safianivka village council was convicted of threatening the military at a checkpoint when he pointed a rifle at them, and avoided imprisonment by receiving a year of probation. According to the case file, the events unfolded in April this year at a checkpoint near Kyslytsia. The military of the Izmail District Territorial Recruitment Center stopped a car with two undocumented men. During the inspection, they called a friend, a local deputy, to help them and bring their IDs. The court found the deputy guilty and sentenced him to five years in prison. However, given his repentance and active cooperation with the investigation, the sentence was commuted to one year of probation with the imposition of duties provided for by law.
