In Kherson region, a local resident who voluntarily joined the occupiers will be tried. The regional prosecutor's office has already sent an indictment to the court on the fact of collaboration.

This was reported by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.

The investigation established that the defendant took a position in an illegal paramilitary group created by the enemy during the occupation of the region. He faces up to 15 years in prison for his actions under Part 7 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

In June 2022, the man took up the position of 'chief of guard' and later became a shooter in the so-called 'paramilitary security detachment' of the illegal enterprise Kherson Railway. In these positions, the accused acted in accordance with Russian protocols and carried out criminal orders of the occupation leadership, directly contributing to the establishment of illegal power in the region.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the SBI investigators with the operational support of the SBU in Kherson region. Currently, the collaborator faces liability under Part 7 of Art. 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for a long term of imprisonment.

Earlier, the SBU officers exposed a resident of Mykolaiv on sabotage. According to law enforcement, he was setting fire to Ukrzaliznytsia's energy infrastructure facilities on the orders of the Russian secret service.

According to the investigation, the man agreed to cooperate with the enemy for a monetary reward, but instead of the promised "payment" he received suspicion and the threat of life imprisonment. The suspect is a 23-year-old IDP from Mykolaiv who has been living in Cherkasy region since 2023. A representative of the Russian special service came across him when he was looking for "easy money" through telegram channels.
